The African Renaissance

Africa over the past few years has become the center of attraction for major global businesses, travel and tourism enthusiast, music, food lovers, and the likes. This is as a result of her people’s determination to change the narrative and sentiments regarding her history, development and achievements.

There is a shift in direction which is driven by a new found consciousness among Africans, that the job can only get done if it is accompanied with the will.

As this consciousness spreads across the continent, more strides are achieved by Africans either Big or Small, Old or Young, virtually across all levels and facets of the African society.

The African market

In the world of business we see the Big boys in their field from across the world, compete for their share of the African market; A market of about 1.2 billion-person with a growing purchasing power, and is home to the world’s largest free trade area.  Africa’s economic growth is stabilizing and is expected to grow in the coming years.

Countries such as Nigeria Botswana Rwanda South Africa Ghana, and a list of others are rolling out economic policies that will consolidate the continents’ economic growth. There is no doubt that the continent in terms of per capita income holds one of the poorest people in the world as a result of bad economic policies previously implemented.

There is a deliberate attempt by current governments across the continent to address that issue through modern dynamic economic policies. Policies which some termed
African solutions for African problems

What about the Music and Food?

Over the past decade, African music witnessed worldwide acceptance and reach, especially in Europe and in the America as a result of massive hits released by African artiste such as starboy Wizkid, Davido, Tiwa savage, Tekno, Busiwa, Sarkodie, the African gaint,Burna Boy who was nominated for a Grammy and lots of others.

There has been a massive rise in air play of African songs across the globe especially in genres such as Afrobeats (I will create a detailed post on the rise of Afrobeats) and Afropop

We’ve had African stars perform on global stage, sell out tours and grabbed endorsements from big brands, and also going Head to Head with International stars for coveted awards.

These artiste and many more set the mark and changed the narrative in there respective genre of music.

The Food

African food and cuisines are fast becoming tourist and visitors favorites.

From popular Jollof Rice in West Africa, to the Potjiekos  in  southern Africa. Bariis Iskukaris and Couscous Couscous are favorites in eastern and northern Africa respectively.

The vibrancy of her Youth

According to the United Nations, 226 million youth aged 15-24 lived in Africa in 2015 representing nearly 20% of Africa's population, making up one fifth of the world's youth population. If one includes all people aged below 35, this number increases to a staggering three quarters of Africa's population.

Africa has the youngest population in the world, and with their energy, vibrancy  and vigor  they are on a quest to surmount  the challenges that faces the African society by providing African solutions using modern technology on African problems.

These determined youth are sprouting up in virtually all sectors and spheres in the African society. From business to entertainment, from technology to literature. And the list goes on…

I know you might think “what about corruption?”

Yes! That's a  worldwide phenomena and not just an African thing.  .

Something is been done about it. As we see nations and government across the continent champion anti-corruption campaign, from Nigeria to Rwanda there are deliberate attempts to make illegalities less attractive, through strict penalties for government officials and private citizens.

The future of Africa is in the right hands as deliberate and conscious effort are been made to not just rewrite history, but rewrite history in Africa's defense and favor through robust development across all sectors of her economy

AFRICA is rising, AFRICA is Here and AFRICA is Now!!
